I recently got accepted to SJSM Bonaire campus and heading there for the January 2014 Semester from Ontario, Canada. Thought I would see if anyone else is going at the same time and if anyone could share recommendations for supplies, housing, island living, etc?

Did you take out a lump sum loan or only basic science tuition while on the island...
hello guys incoming student here for 2014,
just curious did you guys take out a lump sum loan for your entire medical education or did you take out loans increments for example take out loan for basic sciences on the island and take out another loan for clinical science when you get to Chicago. does breaking it down really save on interest?
there have been some hints that we(US citizens) may be qualified for US loans/ scholarships for clinicals since we are back in the US...is that true?

setting a return date on ticket...
...is basic sciences truly 16 months from start date, I read on the website that there are breaks of almost two weeks between semesters. is it safe then to count 16 months from my start date?

SJSM Direct Admit v. UMHS ARP
Hi everyone,
I was just given direct admission to SJSM for Spring 2014 as well as UMHS, St. Kitt's ARP (Accelerated Review Program) in Spring 2014. UMHS's ARP program is 15 weeks long, and provides a review of basic sciences and an introduction to M1 courses. Should a student maintain a grade of 70%+, they are guaranteed direct admission to M1, which starts in May.
To any SJSM M1 student, do you think you would have benefited from a review program such as this prior to entering medical shool? I understand that the curriculum is very fast paced and rigorous. What would you suggest I do to prepare myself for a demanding curriculum should I choose to forego the ARP? I'm a bit torn because I do like both schools' curriculums, but am wondering if I would benefit by taking the ARP program. After doing a bit of research, I have heard fairly good feedback, but am not sure if "losing" 3 months would be worth it. "/

Windsor versus St. James
Windsor has more residents than St. James but otherwise both seem to be on the same level. I have heard stories of disorganized admin at Windsor but don't know anything about St. James. Is there an accreditation issue with St. James? What about rotations? Which one has better rotations?

well organized colorful notes from MD 1 - MD 4 high yield for class and steps
First of congrats to the upcoming MD 1 class starting at st james, I have already graduated took my steps scored a 250 and now finishing up my rotations. While I was on the island, I created my notes that were easy to understand which I personally studied off of for step 1. The notes are easy to understand with the high yield material highlighted. All the notes are neatly organized subject wise and by each semester.
